Happy Summer!

I hope your family has been able to have some fun time together during the first half of Summer. If you are like me, you've scheduled some time during the 2nd half.  I'll be out of the office at the end of this month and at the end of August. I'll be meeting up with my 3 sisters on Cape Cod, and touring Ireland with my wife and 2 daughters in celebration of my 60th Birthday and 25th Wedding Anniversary!  Melanie will be holding down the fort in my absence.  Her hours are generally Mon, Wed. Thur. from 10:00-2:00, but they are much more flexible during the summer, so just give a call if you would like to come into the office.

Parents who had our children in the program this past year are receiving this newsletter.  We will finalize a new group address for the Fall that will not include parents whose children have graduated from the program.

I'm happy to report to you that our 2-Week Summer Intensive Pilot for Grades 3-5 went very well!  All of the feedback we've received from parents, kids, and catechists has been very positive.  The 3-hour sessions allowed us to incorporate more activities and projects, and less review.  We only had 25 kids participate, so, it shouldn't have a significant impact on the number of registrations in the Fall.

Registration is ongoing throughout the summer. We still have a good number of families who have not yet registered, so it's difficult to gauge at this time whether we will have to drop classes as we did last year.  As an additional incentive to get application forms in timely, rates will increase after August 1st.  If you can't locate your application form, just contact the RE Office and we will send you the form.
Invite other families to check us out!

We will be in need of catechists for each of the tracks.  Please consider being part of this vital ministry.  I will be happy to talk to you about the possibilities.  Please pray that people will hear answer the call.

If you haven't done so yet, go to our Facebook Page and "Like" it so that, if you yourself has a FB page, you will receive notifications of our postings.  We will continue to post articles and news of interest throughout the summer, and reminders as we approach the start of the 2016-2017 program year.
Did you know that we have online photo albums for our sacrament celebrations going back 6 years?  Check them out!

I leave you with this Irish blessing:

May the blessing of light be on you—
light without and light within.
May the blessed summer sunlight shine on you
and warm your heart
till it glows like a great peat fire!

CONGRATULATIONS KARIN, VIV, AND TONIA!
They achieved full certification as catechists after attending workshops and classes over the past several years... at least!  Archbishop Cupich and Bishop Manz presented certificates to them and catechists from around the archdiocese at St. John's in Niles.
