ST. APHONSUS RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
March 2015 Parent Newsletter
I hope that your family's Lent is off to a good start! We see our role as helping you and your children enter into the season. We have already begun with the children during the sessions, we look forward to holding our Family Lenten Sessions (See the schedule in the left column), and I offer suggestions in these newsletters.
This month we have a big parish celebration... Confirmation! Bishop George Rassas will confirm 61 of our young people on March 21st at 10:00am, Please keep them in your prayers. We will be holding our Spirit Day the weekend before, starting with their final liturgical rite marking their preparation at the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses. The 11:00 Masses have been near capacity lately, so, if you regularly attend the 11:00 Mass, you want to try checking out one of the other Masses on March 15th.
There are a number of children approaching 4 absences. Please keep in mind our policy to have children make up missed class time on another track after 4 absences. Let us know which class your child prefers and we'll make arrangements. Also, please remember to let us know when your child is going to be absent.
Our big Lenten tri-parish event is the 3-day mission with Fr. Tom McCarthy beginning tonight at 7:30pm at Ss. Cyril & Methodius. It will be held the same time and place on Tuesday & Wednesday. Fr. Tom is a wonderful speaker... If you have the opportunity to go, it will really be worthwhile! Even if you can't go to all 3, even going to just one is worth it... for you and your family.
Like St. Alphonsus Religious Education on Facebook to get notifications. If families who showed up this afternoon with their kids for RE sessions had befriended our Facebook page, they would have been reminded that we didn't have sessions this afternoon.
Have a blessed Lent...... Have Casmir Pulaski Day!.... Happy St. Patrick Day!
